Clean and simple design elements such as circles and rectangles appeal to me. They provide a sense of organization and structure. Minimalistic designs provide this clean structure for me. Andy Goldsworthy heavily influences my work. His work is characterized by natural elements and takes the viewer back to a simple state of mind.
I use predominately-muted colors to bring a calm and composed feeling to a piece of work. When choosing a color palette for a project I also consider the audience that will be viewing the design and how they will perceive the colors and content of the design. I strive to achieve a strong hierarchy in designs with colors, shapes, and typography. I tend to use sans-serif typefaces because of the legibility and visual impact they provide that coincide with simple shapes. Measurement and alignment are two elements that are very important to me because I feel a work can become confusing if misaligned. I understand that when working in a minimalistic state every detail matters, no matter how small.
